Egra Agriculture and Rural Development Society (EARDS) is a registered non-profit organisation in West Bengal (Reg. No. SO134449 of 2005–2006), established by development professionals committed to community-driven growth and social transformation. Since its inception in 2006, EARDS has been actively working across several districts of West Bengal to address socio-economic challenges and enhance the well-being of vulnerable and marginalised populations.
To strengthen rural livelihoods and create sustainable economic pathways, EARDS operates three Poorbita Rural Development and Craft Centres in Sarpukurdanga and Sehalai (Birbhum District) and Jadabganj (Purba Bardhaman District). These centres serve as hubs for skill building, craft development, and entrepreneurship support.
Additionally, EARDS runs the Poorbita Kishalay Talent Hunt Programme, which identifies and nurtures rural young talent through non-formal education, sports activities, and cultural engagement.Through its holistic and inclusive approach, EARDS remains dedicated to empowering rural communities by fostering education, gender equity, skills, and sustainable livelihoods, contributing to long-term social and economic resilience in rural West Bengal.
Vision
Every child deserves quality education and nutritious food. Our vision is rooted in holistic child development, ensuring that children receive the learning and nutrition necessary for their growth, well-being, and a brighter, healthier future through inclusive and comprehensive support.
Mission
Our mission is to empower the underprivileged adolescent and women (especially tribal) through skill development and livelihood opportunities, while ensuring that all children enroll in and continue their education, with the goal of achieving zero dropouts. We follow a holistic approach that links women’s empowerment with children's education to break the cycle of poverty and promote sustainable development through skills and learning.
