Mr. Debangshu Bhattacharya, Founder President

Mr. Debangshu Bhattacharya is a versatile professional with experience across finance, manufacturing, and travel & tourism. After starting his career as a Portfolio Consultant, he joined his family’s manufacturing unit as a co-maker for Philips India. In 1997, he entered the Travel and Tourism sector and became a founding promoter of the Travel Agents Association of Bengal (TAAB), serving two terms as Joint Secretary and contributing to the industry’s growth.Deeply committed to education and community welfare, he serves on the National Council of Education and the Governing Body of Inspiration, and actively supports organisations such as Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Ramakrishna Mission

 

Mr. Kamala Kanta Jana, Founder Secretary

Born in 1962 into a humble farming family in a remote village of Purba Medinipur, Mr. Kamala Kanta Jana rose above significant challenges to pursue higher education in Kolkata, graduating in Biological Sciences from Asutosh College, University of Calcutta. His commitment to social service began in his student years. He worked as a Project Coordinator at Swayambhar and later contributed to the collection, cultivation, and conservation of indigenous folk rice varieties at Basudha (Brihi) in Bankura.Over the years, Mr. Jana has collaborated with multiple social service organizations, dedicating his life to the empowerment of rural and tribal communities. As the Founder Secretary of the Egra Agriculture and Rural Development Society (EARDS), he has been instrumental in shaping the organisation’s vision and growth, with a strong focus on sustainable rural development, education, and livelihood promotion.

Mr. Utpal Besra, Asst. Secretary

Mr. Besra was born in 1984 in Jadabganj, a village in Purba Bardhaman District, where he spent his early years. He completed his graduation from Guskara College under the University of Burdwan, building a strong academic foundation. Alongside his formal education, he pursued a diploma in tailoring and dress designing from NSOU, adding a creative skillset to his profile. A committed public representative, he previously served as the President of the Aushgram-I Panchayat Samiti, where he worked actively on local development issues. He is currently engaged in the field of education and teaches at Kayrapur Vidyasagar H.S. School, contributing to the academic growth of young learners.Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Besra is also a talented tribal folk artist who promotes traditional culture through his performances. His deep involvement in cultural activities complements his work as a dedicated social worker. Through these diverse contributions, he continues to serve his community with passion and sincerity.

Miss Minu Dey, Member

Miss Minu Dey, born in 1968 in Chandan Nagar, is an accomplished artist and committed educator. A rank holder in the West Bengal Higher Secondary Examination of 1986, she later completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Government College of Art & Craft, securing First Class First in 1995. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her artistic excellence over the years. Miss Dey began her professional journey as a Fashion Designer with Jain Export Import, where her creative skills were well recognised. In 2001, she joined the Government Education Service as a Teacher at Sunity Academy, Cooch Behar, and she currently serves at Multipurpose Government Girls’ School, Alipore.Alongside teaching, she has organised and participated in several national and international painting exhibitions and workshops. A trained violinist, she is also an active member of EARDS, supporting its community development initiatives with enthusiasm.

 

Prof. (Dr.) SOURABH ROY, Vice President

Prof. Roy, born in 1976 in Kolkata, was a West Bengal Higher Secondary rank holder and went on to earn his MBBS from Calcutta Medical College (1999), DTM&H from the School of Tropical Medicine (2003, highest marks),and MD in Anaesthesiology from Burdwan Medical College (2007, goldmedal).
An accomplished clinician and academic, he has been with KPC Medical College & Hospital throughout his career and currently serves as Professor and Head of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care. With over 50 publications and extensive experience as an MD examiner and convener, he is widely respected in his field. A dedicated philanthropist, Dr. Roy has long supported the mission of EARDS with commitment and enthusiasm.

Mr. Surjya Brata Sarkar, Treasurer

Mr. Sarkar was born in 1987 in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, where he completed his early education. He pursued higher studies at the University of Burdwan, graduating with Honours in Accountancy. In 2009, he began his professional career as an accountant, gaining valuable experience in financial management and organisational accounting systems. Through dedication and consistent performance, he advanced to the position of senior accountant, a role he successfully fulfilled until 2017. During these years, he built strong expertise in taxation, financial planning, and compliance. Motivated by his growing knowledge and an entrepreneurial mindset, he decided to venture independently. In 2018, he founded his own tax consultancy firm, offering specialised financial and tax-related services. Since then, he has been committed to providing reliable, professional support to individuals and businesses alike.

Mr. Madhusudan Biswas, Member

Mr. Biswas was born in 1963 in Shitalpur village of Birbhum district, where he grew up in a community rich in traditional craft practices. From a very young age, he became involved in the kantha embroidery and bagmaking trade, learning the skills that would later define his career. Over the years, he developed exceptional expertise in kantha work, earning recognition for his intricate designs and high-quality handcrafted bags.His products have gained appreciation in local markets and beyond,strengthening his reputation as a skilled artisan. Alongside building his craft, Mr. Biswas has always been committed to supporting his community. Through various social initiatives, he has encouraged and trained others to take up kantha and bag manufacturing as a source of livelihood. Today, he has brought nearly 100 families into this craft-based enterprise,creating sustainable income opportunities for many. His work reflects both artistic mastery and a deep dedication to community upliftment.
